Bundesliga schedule 2026/27 unveiled: LASK open against GAK, first Vienna derby not until November

The champions host an outsider on opening day. "Meister LASK empfängt Außenseiter GAK", is the official fixture. LASK coach Didi Kühbauer is counting on the Frenchman Ramiz Harakete, who now plays at the Linzer Feld after stints at SKN St. Pölten and GAK. "Trainer Didi Kühbauer baut auf den Wirbelwind", the league describes the forward's role. "Der Franzose wechselte nach einem starken Jahr beim SKN St. Pölten zum GAK. In Graz wurde der Stürmer noch besser - und schließlich vom LASK gekauft."

One innovation concerns kick-off times. "Neu ist, dass die Bundesliga fast durchwegs auf Freitagabendspiele (ab 19.30 Uhr) setzt", it says. This goes hand in hand with a shift in Saturday matches. "Und, dass nicht nur im Sommer eine Samstagpartie erst um 19.30 Uhr losgeht." On Saturday, 1 August, action continues with WSG against Sturm as well as Red Bull Salzburg against Hartberg, with both fixtures scheduled "direkt nach den Trainerwechseln bei diesen beiden Teams".

Ried meet Rapid

On Sunday, 2 August, the duel between WAC and Austria Wien follows at 17:00. "Ebenfalls um 17 Uhr WAC gegen die Austria." The following day, on 2 August, the evening match kicks off at 19:00: Rapid host Altach at the Allianz Stadion. "Als Abendspiel am 2. August folgt ab 19 Uhr das Heimspiel von Rapid gegen Altach. Für die Hütteldorfer wird es nach dem Cup und dem Europacup bereits das vierte Pflichtspiel der Saison sein." On Sunday, 2 August, promoted side Lustenau face the rebuilt Ried squad. "Am Sonntag folgt das Duell von Aufsteiger Lustenau mit den umgebauten Riedern", according to the fixture announcement.

Vienna derby not until November

A homecoming of sorts surrounds Ried. The former captain returns to the Bundesliga after six years, the midfield engine having signed with Ried. Stefan Schwab, former Rapid captain, thus joins the club from the Innviertel. On Sunday, 9 August, the Ried side immediately faces a heavyweight in the form of the Hütteldorfer. "Die Innviertler fordern am Sonntag 9 August, gleich die Rapidler."

The marquee fixture of a later round is the duel Austria against LASK at 19:00. "Den Schlager der Runde gibt es ab 19 Uhr mit Austria gegen den LASK." The first Vienna derby of the season will thus not be played until late in the first half of the campaign. "Das erste Derby gibt es übrigens erst zum Ende des ersten Durchgangs, in Runde 11 in Favoriten - zu Allerheiligen." Fans of the Viennese clubs will therefore have to wait several months before Rapid and Austria meet.
