The Carinthian State Traffic Department confiscated 38 driver's licenses and documented hundreds of violations during a targeted operation against alcohol and drugs at the wheel on the night of July 2.

The Carinthian police have presented the results of their focused operation on World Cup Night. According to officers, they recorded a total of 272 violations under the Road Traffic Act (StVO) and the Motor Vehicle Act (KFG) and issued 326 on-the-spot penalties (Organmandate) for infringements of the same provisions. The State Traffic Department had specifically directed the checks against alcohol and drugs at the wheel.

According to the information provided, 38 driver's licenses were confiscated. Of these, 26 licenses were seized for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, as the police noted. Twelve other persons lost their driver's license because they refused an alcohol or drug test. "Darum wurde ihnen ebenfalls der Führerschein abgenommen", the officers stated.
