US singer Chris Brown pleaded guilty before a court in London to having been involved in an altercation at the "Tape" nightclub in the Mayfair district of London in February 2023, as reported by the PA news agency from the courtroom.
Background: Allegation of bottle attack
Brown appeared in court wearing a beige suit and a dark brown tie, according to journalists. When asked how he pleaded to the charge, he answered "Guilty." The 37-year-old thereby admitted the charge of threatening or using unlawful violence, referred to in British criminal law as "affray."
The background to the proceedings is an incident in February 2023 at the exclusive "Tape" nightclub in Mayfair. Music producer Abraham "Abe" Diaw accuses Brown of hitting him on the head with a bottle and kicking and punching him while he was already on the ground. This account was picked up by several British media outlets and forms the basis of the charge.
