Christopher Nolan's adaptation of Homer's epic "The Odyssey" grossed approximately $264 million (around 230 million euros) worldwide on its opening weekend, significantly exceeding the expectations of studio Universal Pictures.

In North America alone, the weekend gross for "The Odyssey" was estimated at over $124 million. Worldwide, according to the trade publications "Variety" and "Hollywood Reporter," earnings totaled an estimated $264 million (around 230 million euros). This puts the opening well above Universal Pictures' original expectations; the studio had initially targeted opening revenues of around $80 to $100 million in North America for "The Odyssey."
