Bruck an der Leitha, 07 July 2026

A 43-year-old man in the district of Bruck an der Leitha was provisionally arrested by the Cobra tactical unit on 6 July 2026 and taken into Korneuburg Prison for sending death threats via WhatsApp against several Slovak co-workers.

As the Lower Austria State Police Directorate announced on Tuesday, the threats were directed at a 40-year-old construction worker from Slovakia as well as at several other compatriots. The victim stated that he had been "gemeinsam mit mehreren Landsleuten von einem Arbeitskollegen massiv beschimpft und mit dem Tod bedroht worden zu sein". The report was filed at the beginning of July at the Himberg police station.

The threats had been sent via text messages and via the WhatsApp messaging service. To lend weight to the threats, the 43-year-old Austrian co-worker had also sent a photograph of an open gun cabinet showing several assault rifles, "heiße es weiter".

Operation and arrest in the late afternoon

Because of the potential danger situation, the Cobra tactical unit was deployed. On 6 July 2026 at around 4:55 p.m., the man was provisionally arrested at his residential address in the district of Bruck an der Leitha. During a subsequent search of the apartment, "Waffen nicht aufgefunden werden", as police further announced.
