ZURICH, April 3, 2026 Swiss retailer Coop has issued a nationwide recall of cheese products from Käserei Landbrügg due to potential Salmonella contamination, the company announced Tuesday. The recall affects nine products, including Brie variants, Humidor cheese, and cheese platters, sold at Coop supermarkets and Coop City locations between March 2 and April 2. Customers are advised to return the items for a full refund, regardless of the best-before date. Salmonella bacteria can cause severe foodborne illness, with symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, and vomiting. The infection poses heightened risks for vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Coop has not yet reported any illnesses linked to the recalled products. The retailer urged consumers to check their purchases and dispose of or return any affected items. The cheese in question was produced by Käserei Landbrügg, based in Schüpfheim, Lucerne. Authorities are monitoring the situation, though no further details about the contamination source have been released.
