A woman identified only as Jane Doe has detailed alleged sexual assaults spanning years on a Cornell University campus, in a case that experts say mirrors the cycles of denial and shame commonly reported by survivors.

The allegations

Doe's account, first published in a CNN-affiliated investigation and amplified by outlets including Time, describes assaults she says stretched across multiple semesters at Cornell. According to the reporting, the alleged attacks involved members of the Chi Phi fraternity and took place during and after fraternity events, often when Doe said she was intoxicated or unconscious. Cornell University Police Department records reviewed by reporters show that Doe reported at least one incident in the 2019–2020 academic year, though she did not file formal criminal complaints at the time.
