The BBC reports, citing its own sources, that Daniel Kinahan was taken into custody in Dubai. There was initially no official confirmation from the authorities of the United Arab Emirates. According to its own statements, the BBC was also unable to independently verify the arrest. The Irish police did not initially comment publicly on the report.
The Kinahan cartel group, also referred to in abbreviated form as KTCO, is considered one of the most powerful criminal organizations in Ireland. According to the available findings, the group initially sold cocaine and heroin from South America in Ireland and later expanded its drug activities to Great Britain and the European mainland. As things progressed, the organization expanded its business areas to include money laundering, weapons trafficking, and murder.
