Germany's DAX stock index could, according to market observers, head back toward its record high by the close of the week, supported by a friendly Wall Street and a weaker dollar following the US central bank's interest rate decision.

On Thursday evening, US bourses were in a friendly mood. The tech-heavy Nasdaq as well as the broad-based Dow Jones moved higher, while well-known blue-chip stocks such as Microsoft, Amazon and Apple were among the biggest gainers. This development is regarded as an important sentiment indicator for German trading on Friday, because many international investors align their positions with the US lead.
