A Pakistani national being deported from Germany to Cyprus caused a disturbance on an Austrian Airlines flight from Berlin to Vienna, triggering the emergency slide and forcing 51 passengers to disembark before departure.

The incident occurred on an Airbus A320 operated by Austrian Airlines (AUA) scheduled to depart Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) at 7:00 a.m. The deportee, who was being transported with a planned layover in Vienna, became unruly in the rear of the aircraft, leading to a chaotic scene that delayed the flight by 2.5 hours.

Emergency Slide Deployed During Altercation

The altercation resulted in the accidental deployment of the emergency slide at the front door of the aircraft. "Durch das Gerangel sei an der Vordertür des Airbus A320 die Notrutsche ausgelöst worden," according to corroborated reports. The slide’s activation forced crew members to reassess safety protocols, leading to the removal of 51 passengers to reduce the total number of travelers from 161 to 110.

A spokesperson for Austrian Airlines confirmed the reduction, stating, "Deswegen wurde die Zahl der Fluggäste um 51 auf 110 reduziert, wie die Sprecherin erklärte." The flight eventually departed after the situation was brought under control, but the disruption caused significant delays for other passengers.
