The German national football team began training in Chicago on Thursday, reporting the return of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to the pitch, among other news, as the team prepares for the friendly match against the USA on Saturday (8:30 PM, RTL) at Soldier Field.
Coach Julian Nagelsmann's team trained on Thursday at Chicago Fire's Endeavor Health Performance Center, where Neuer is "continuing to build up his load," according to the German Football Association (DFB). The 40-year-old goalkeeper was at least partially visible on the pitch again after a two-year DFB break, as observed by his teammates. Forward Kai Havertz said: "He was back on the pitch." He wasn't sure if Neuer had participated in all drills: "I don't know now if he's done everything. But he was definitely on the pitch."
