Novak Djokovic lost his comeback match at the Cincinnati Open on Saturday, falling 6-2, 4-6, 4-6 to Thiago Tirante of Argentina while visibly struggling with a physical issue.

Djokovic, 39, was playing his first ATP Tour match since Wimbledon as he returned to competition at the ATP 1000 event in Cincinnati. The Serbian struggled from the opening games against Tirante, an opponent ranked well below him, and was unable to impose his usual baseline rhythm. According to reports, Djokovic vomited during the match and appeared physically compromised throughout the deciding set.

After the loss, Djokovic addressed his condition and the Cincinnati humidity in comments reported by multiple outlets. "Ich hatte zwar damit gerechnet (dass es schwül sein würde), aber es kommen noch andere Faktoren wie Nervosität und Ähnliches hinzu, die die Situation verschlimmern - und genau das ist passiert," Djokovic said. He acknowledged that he had anticipated the humid conditions but said nerves and other factors made things worse.
