A dog was bitten by a European adder in the Dead Mountains in Upper Austria over the weekend and had to be flown down from the mountain to the valley by a police helicopter, as reported by APA.

The incident occurred in the area of the Dead Mountains, the news agency APA reported, citing the police. According to the report, a police helicopter was called in to bring the injured animal and its owner from the Rinnerhütte down to the valley. "Ein Polizeihubschrauber stieg auf und brachte Hund und Herrl ins Tal", the report stated.

The emergency call from the mountains

According to the police, the 63-year-old owner of the animal had called emergency services because the condition of his dog had rapidly deteriorated after the snakebite. "Der 63-jährige Besitzer des Tieres wählte darum den Notruf", APA added.
