A 41-year-old man sped through the Götschka Tunnel on the S10 in the district of Freistadt at 190 km/h on Sunday, after having surrendered his driver's license the previous day.

Background on the drive on the S10

Police stopped the man on Sunday in the S10 area, according to a press release from the Upper Austria State Police Directorate. The driver was measured traveling at 190 km/h, although a significantly lower speed limit applies in the tunnel area. During the subsequent check, officers determined that the man's driver's license had already been taken from him the previous day.

Suspicion against the 41-year-old also arose from his behavior during the stop, according to police. In addition to his driving behavior, there were indications of impairment from alcohol. The 41-year-old also stated that he had taken medication.
