Cottbus, 29 August 2026
Energie Cottbus lost 2:3 (2:2) at home in the Lausitz Arena against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Saturday, even though Lucas Copado had twice found the net for the Lausitz side with a brace.
A match of ups and downs
The game in the Lausitz Arena began promisingly for the hosts from Cottbus. Energie pushed from the outset for an early lead and were rewarded after roughly a quarter of an hour. Copado, who had already been a lively presence in the first half, put Cottbus in front with his first goal. Fürth needed a few minutes to find their feet in the encounter but then grew into the game and carved out chances.
Right in the middle of that phase came the equaliser for the visitors from Middle Franconia. SpVgg Greuther Fürth, who had already been tipped beforehand as favourites to deny Cottbus their second home win, were effective in front of goal. Shortly before the interval, Copado struck his second goal of the day, seemingly setting Energie Cottbus on course for a point. But before the half-time whistle, Fürth equalised again, so the sides went into the dressing rooms at 2:2.
