Catania, 07 July 2026

The wedding of Aurora Ramazzotti and Goffredo Cerza in Sicily was overshadowed by the eruption of Mount Etna, whose ash cloud brought air traffic at Catania airport to a standstill.

The 29-year-old daughter of Michelle Hunziker and Eros Ramazzotti had said "I do" to her long-time partner Goffredo Cerza on 3 June 2026. On Instagram, the newlywed shared touching wedding photos a few days later, on 6 July, and gushed that she could not have imagined such a happy ending "nicht einmal in meinen schönsten Träumen" (not even in her most beautiful dreams). According to Italian media reports, the celebration took place in Sicily, where the region around the volcano is continuously affected by the natural disaster.

Wedding in Sicily

After the "absurdesten 72 Stunden" (most absurd 72 hours) of her life, reality caught up with the wedding party in dramatic fashion. As Europe's highest volcano spewed an ash cloud roughly 1.5 kilometers high over the island, Catania regional airport had to be completely shut down for the time being. Numerous flights were canceled or diverted to other airports, including connections that wedding guests had planned to use to depart.
