The specialty chemicals group Evonik benefited in its Advanced Technologies segment from stockpiling behavior by its customers, triggered by supply bottlenecks resulting from the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, as reported by Dow Jones Newswires.
Bottleneck with Global Impact
The increased orders were due, among other things, to the fact that Asian suppliers were temporarily unable to deliver because of the tense situation in the strait between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula. According to the report, Evonik's customers hedged against this uncertainty by building up higher inventories, which temporarily boosted demand for products in the Advanced Technologies segment.
