In Bad Schönborn, in the Karlsruhe district, fraudsters posing as police officers stole gold worth at least one hundred thousand euros from an 88-year-old woman, and also struck the senior citizen.
In the incident, which occurred on Tuesday in the municipality in the Karlsruhe district, the perpetrators struck the senior citizen in the face, according to police, and then fled with the stolen gold. The criminal police have launched an investigation and are now searching for the perpetrators, who are currently unknown, as well as for witnesses.
According to initial findings, one of the alleged perpetrators first contacted the 88-year-old by phone. He identified himself as a police officer and warned the woman about an alleged escaped burglar who might be targeting her. With this scam – the so-called shock call – the caller managed to severely unsettle the senior citizen.
