Families gathered on Friday to retrieve the bodies of victims after a 14-year-old gunman opened fire outside a school near Bangkok, killing at least seven people in one of the deadliest mass shootings in recent Thai memory.

The attack unfolded in the morning outside Debsirin Nonthaburi School, a secondary institution on the outskirts of the capital. According to officials briefed at the scene, the assailant, identified only as a 14-year-old boy, used a firearm against people gathered near the school grounds before turning the weapon on himself. The Health Ministry said at least seven people were killed and a number of others were wounded.
