Ceuta, 28 August 2026
In the Spanish North African exclave of Ceuta, demonstrators set fire to a migrant camp on Wednesday, further escalating the tense situation in the region.
According to sources from Spanish government circles, the blaze broke out in the area of the Benítez camp. The exact circumstances, the number of injuries, and the extent of the damage were not initially officially confirmed. Rescue forces, including Red Cross teams, were deployed.
The incident occurred against the backdrop of the migration crisis that has been ongoing in Ceuta for days. In recent weeks, numerous people had attempted to enter the Spanish exclave from Morocco. The Spanish government had subsequently tightened its border controls and introduced entry checks.
