Vienna, 11 June 2026
Erwin Rauscher, the former rector of the Pedagogical University of Lower Austria (PH NÖ) in Baden, has negotiated a settlement with the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education over his early dismissal in October 2025, his lawyer confirmed.
Rauscher's attorney, Dominik Konlechner, said in response to an APA inquiry that a settlement has been reached in the labour-law dispute between his client and the ministry. Rauscher, 75, had sued the Republic of Austria before the Labour and Social Court, claiming his dismissal was unlawful. The claim carried a disputed value of 308,000 euros. Konlechner described the agreement as a "vertretbares Ergebnis," a defensible result "um weiteren Schaden von der Pädagogischen Hochschule abzuwenden und diesen Schwebezustand zu beenden" — to prevent further damage to the university and end the period of uncertainty.
