Women's Shot Put
In front of 10,000 spectators in the sold-out Heinz-Steyer-Stadion, the 27-year-old Olympic champion from Paris 2024 won the women's shot put with a throw of 19.21 meters. She competed for MTG Mannheim and was competing under her new surname for the first time after marrying US professional football player Tyler Mabry at the end of March 2026. Second place went to Fanny Roos from Sweden with 18.73 meters, ahead of Katharina Maisch from LV 90 Erzgebirge, who threw 18.48 meters.
Mabry took the lead with her first attempt of 19.16 meters and improved by five centimeters in the final round. A week earlier in Rehlingen, she had been defeated by Roos with a throw of 18.81 meters. Looking ahead to upcoming competitions, Mabry said: "Step by step. Today, 19 meters was the goal." When asked about the scoreboard displaying her new name, she commented: "I haven't really gotten used to my new surname on the scoreboard yet." She also made a brief personal statement: "The wedding was unique."
