Hannover 96 Appoints Ex-HSV Chief Jonas Boldt as New Sporting Managing Director

Hannover's supervisory board chairman Martin Kind expressed confidence in the new appointment. "Jonas Boldt bringt ein hohes Maß an Wissenskompetenz, Marktkenntnis und Erfahrung im Profifußball mit," Kind said in a statement.

Kind added: "Er hat über viele Jahre in verantwortlichen Positionen gearbeitet. In den gemeinsamen Gesprächen hat er ein sehr klares Bild davon vermittelt, wie er den sportlichen Bereich strukturieren und entwickeln möchte."

Boldt himself struck an optimistic tone about the new challenge. "Die Gespräche waren von Anfang an offen, klar und vertrauensvoll," he said. "Jetzt geht es darum, den Club schnell gut kennenzulernen und gemeinsam mit Ralf Becker und dem Trainerteam um Christian Titz die sportliche Zukunft zu gestalten."

He added: "Ich bin fest davon überzeugt, dass wir hier in Hannover gemeinsam viel Positives erreichen und entwickeln können."

A Reunited Leadership Team

The appointment creates an intriguing dynamic within Hannover's sporting leadership. Ralf Becker, who currently serves as Sportdirektor, was Boldt's predecessor as sporting director at Hamburger SV. Becker will now be hierarchically subordinate to Boldt in the new structure.

Boldt stated his intention to continue working with both Becker and head coach Christian Titz, signaling continuity in the club's sporting project.

Before his time in Hamburg, Boldt spent twelve years at Bayer Leverkusen in various roles, building a reputation as a well-connected football specialist with a keen eye for young talent.

A Career Built on Talent

According to reports, Boldt recently turned down an offer from Danish club FC Copenhagen before accepting the Hannover position. The German outlet Sport Bild was the first to report on the personnel move.

The appointment marks a significant step for Hannover 96 as the club looks to build a sustainable path back to the Bundesliga under new sporting leadership.
