Higher Regional Court of Innsbruck Rejects Appeal Against Murder Charge in Case of Student Stabbed to Death in 2005

The 19-year-old student from Lower Austria was killed in Innsbruck in 2005. Her body was found at the time in the area of Rapoldi Park in the Tyrolean capital. The case has occupied the domestic judiciary for more than two decades and has repeatedly made headlines, not least because of the extensive international investigations.

The prosecution accuses the defendant of having killed the young woman with a knife. Meanwhile, the defense announced that it intends to exhaust all further legal remedies in the ongoing proceedings. It is therefore not excluded that further motions and submissions will be made before the start of the main trial.
