Hydrologist Günter Blöschl of TU Wien sees Austria on the brink of an exceptional situation due to the ongoing drought, and at the same time observes clear traces of climate change.

According to hydrologist Günter Blöschl of the Vienna University of Technology, Austria is only narrowly removed from an exceptional situation. "The combination of a dry winter followed by little rain in many places is out of the ordinary," said Blöschl, head of the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Engineering Hydrology at TU Wien, to APA. He speaks of a situation "on the brink of an exceptional situation." Blöschl also sees "clearly the fingerprint of climate change, which is solidly proven and is not a political or other invention."
