St. Pölten, July 29, 2026
The Lower Austria State Police Directorate has identified a group of juvenile suspects who are alleged to have repeatedly attacked conductors and ÖBB security personnel in the St. Pölten district.
The investigations are directed against several juveniles who, according to police, had come to attention over an extended period in the Wilhelmsburg area and the St. Pölten district through violent attacks on train personnel. According to the Lower Austria State Police Directorate, the gang was identified following covert investigations and interrogations.
The most serious incident to date occurred at the beginning of May, when a ticket inspector wanted to deny boarding to a juvenile who had already come to attention multiple times. State Police Directorate spokesperson Johann Baumschlager confirmed to noe.ORF.at: „Dabei wurde er von einem zur Tatzeit noch 14-Jährigen mit mehreren Schlägen ins Gesicht körperlich attackiert, wobei er schwer verletzt wurde." The inspector had to receive medical treatment.
