On the grounds of Miranda's Rescue Animal Sanctuary in California's Humboldt County, investigators have found the remains of at least 117 dogs, many of which showed gunshot injuries.

Authorities also discovered 21 dog skulls, hundreds of bones, and additional remains on the property of Miranda's Rescue Animal Sanctuary. Using ground-penetrating radar, investigators located the 117 remains in an open field, where they had been buried at various stages of decomposition. The discovery was made possible through tips from animal rights activists who had previously surveilled the facility with wildlife cameras.
