The Israeli Air Force struck a suburb of Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, on Thursday, targeting a commander of the Hezbollah militia. This marks the first such attack since the recent ceasefire in the region.

Escalation in Lebanon

The strike on the Beirut suburb signals renewed tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. The Lebanese government, led by Prime Minister Najib Mikati, has refused to engage in negotiations with Israel for the time being. Hezbollah, a Shiite militia with close ties to Iran, is considered one of Israel’s staunchest adversaries in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, in the Gaza Strip, the son of a Hamas leader was killed in an attack. Hamas, which is also backed by Iran, controls Gaza and has been in conflict with Israel for years.
