White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday that she is leaving the post, telling followers that she cannot balance the demands of the job with raising her two young children.
Leavitt announced the decision in a social media post, framing it as a personal choice driven by her family. The statement did not name a successor or set a precise departure date, leaving an open question about who will next face reporters from the White House podium.
"The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary — and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life," Leavitt said in a social media post.
