KUWAIT CITY, April 10, 2026

Kuwait has reported hostile drone attacks on the second day of a ceasefire agreement in the ongoing Iran war, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions.

Attacks on Kuwaiti and US Facilities

A drone strike targeted a National Guard site in Kuwait, causing substantial property damage but no casualties, according to corroborated reports. The attack occurred despite a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Gulf states, raising concerns about the durability of the truce.

Kuwaiti authorities condemned the attacks, attributing them to Iran and its allies. The strikes were directed at "important facilities" in the country, though specific locations beyond the National Guard site were not disclosed. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard, however, denied involvement in any attacks on Gulf states during the ceasefire, as reported by state media.

Simultaneously, a separate drone attack hit a US diplomatic facility in Baghdad, further complicating the regional security landscape. The dual strikes suggest a coordinated or simultaneous escalation by hostile actors, though no group has claimed responsibility.

US Response and Diplomatic Fallout

In response to the Baghdad attack, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau summoned the Iraqi ambassador to Washington. Landau criticized the Iraqi government for its failure to prevent the assault but acknowledged the efforts of Iraqi security forces in responding to the incident.
