Linz, 31 July 2026

Defending champion LASK secured a 3:0 home win against GAK on the opening matchday of the new Austrian Football Bundesliga season, sending a clear statement of intent in the title race.

The Linz side took control of the match from the outset and allowed GAK little room to develop their game. With possession, aggressive pressing and targeted attacking thrusts, the hosts built a clear superiority. Already in the first half, Linz set the course for victory, without the visitors from Graz being able to mount any serious resistance.

The statistical figures underline the dominance of the defending champions: one shot on target, four touches in the penalty area and 42 percent possession for GAK speak volumes about just how much LASK controlled proceedings. The visitors, coached by Ferdinand Feldhofer, found few attacking means to trouble the Linz defense.
