Barcelona, 14 June 2026
Lewis Hamilton secured his first Formula 1 victory for Ferrari at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, setting a milestone in his roughly one-and-a-half-year tenure with the Scuderia.
The Spanish Grand Prix on 14 June 2026 marked a historic moment: Lewis Hamilton won the race in Barcelona, claiming his first Grand Prix victory with Ferrari. It was his 106th Formula 1 win overall and the record world champion's first triumph since the Belgian Grand Prix on 28 July 2024. Hamilton himself spoke afterwards of a fortunate strategic decision by Ferrari as the foundation of the success.
The decisive overtaking manoeuvre
The decisive phase of the race began on lap 38: After the pit stops of the leading Mercedes duo George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, Hamilton took over the lead. Russell, who held on to second place at the finish, and third-placed Lando Norris completed the first all-British podium in Formula 1 since 1968. Over team radio, Hamilton addressed his crew and said: "Grazie tutti. Danke, dass ihr mir geholfen habt, diesen Traum zu erfüllen."
