Hundreds of police officers raided 40 properties across Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia on Tuesday, arresting eight suspects in a major crackdown on an international darknet drug and money laundering ring.
The coordinated operation involved more than 400 officers from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office, customs authorities, and the North Rhine-Westphalia State Office for Combating Financial Crime, supported by state police from both regions.
Investigators allege that several suspects had been selling drugs including cocaine, hashish, ecstasy, and amphetamines on darknet marketplaces worldwide since at least July 2020.

The group is believed to have generated several million euros in cryptocurrency from these sales. Between November 2025 and May 2026 alone, over 100 million euros flowed through crypto wallets linked to the main suspect.
