School operations to be gradually resumed

Several educational facilities are housed on the campus in Gosen-Neu Zittau. According to the Ministry of Education, the state primary school on the campus will resume regular classes from Monday. The private provider Docemus includes a grammar school, a secondary school, and a vocational college.

The shock at the site runs deep because students of various school types are directly affected. Teachers, parents, and chaplains are accompanying the return to everyday school life. Authorities are also preparing psychosocial support services for those affected.

Frank Nakoinz, mayor of the municipality of Gosen-Neu Zittau in eastern Brandenburg, expressed his dismay at the act. The municipality is in close contact with the victims' families. The parish also sees its task as providing comfort together with civil society.

State and private schools affected

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Education pointed to close coordination with the private provider Docemus and the school supervisory authority. The goal is to gradually restore school operations while at the same time providing affected children and adolescents with reliable contacts.

School administrators of the affected institutions have announced to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur that they will closely accompany the first days after the resumption. Class teachers are to pay particular attention to signs of distress. Mobile crisis intervention is available if needed.

Investigations and appeals for donations

The Evangelical Church asks that flowers and candles be avoided in front of the worship space so as not to disrupt the proceedings. Instead, a collection for the bereaved is planned.

People far beyond the eastern Brandenburg region are also expressing their sympathy. On social networks, football clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, said to be in touch with the victims' families, are offering condolences and calling for donations. Local aid organizations are coordinating financial support.

According to the responsible authorities, the investigations into the violent crime are ongoing. Police and prosecutors ask that speculation be avoided and that information be reported through official channels.

School psychologists point out that parents should consciously listen to their children in the coming days and offer clear daily structures. The school start on Monday is organized so that children can arrive again in a familiar environment.
