Messi scores four goals in MLS – Inter Miami sweeps CF Montreal off the pitch

From then on, Messi repeatedly combined with his attacking partners to cut through Montreal's defense. Luis Suarez also got involved in the attacks and created multiple chances. Messi's movement between the lines and his finishing quality from various distances left the opposing goalkeeper with little chance.

Casemiro praises the exceptional class

The 4:0 scoreline that emerged from the match reflected a focused team performance. Inter Miami dominated possession, duels, and shot statistics. After falling behind, CF Montreal rarely found a way back into the game and ultimately had to accept a clear defeat.

The mood in the team was driven above all by the ease with which Messi scored his goals. Teammate Casemiro summed up the feeling in the mixed zone. "We have to enjoy these moments, because he is a human being, a player who is making history," Casemiro said about Messi. The quote reflected the admiration within the squad for the superstar's enduring class.

In sporting terms, the performance has an immediate impact on the standings. Inter Miami further extends its position among the leading group in the Eastern Conference and keeps pace with the top teams in the MLS. Attention now turns to the season finale and the clash with Nashville SC, which is scheduled in the coming weeks.

Impact on the standings and the rest of the season

Beyond the MLS, Messi continues to make headlines. His contract with Inter Miami runs beyond the current season, but talks over a possible extension are the subject of regular speculation. No official confirmation of a contract extension beyond 2026 has yet been forthcoming.

For CF Montreal, the defeat represents a setback in the race for playoff places. The Canadian side has struggled with inconsistent results of late and loses further ground following the heavy away defeat. The coach and players will need to find an answer to the level of performance shown in the coming days.

Overall, the evening belonged to Messi and Inter Miami. With four goals in an MLS competitive match, the Argentine once again underlined his exceptional status and delivered an unforgettable performance for the fans at Chase Stadium.

The coming weeks will show whether Inter Miami can carry this form into the decisive phase of the MLS season. If he maintains this level, the club's title ambitions this year could become more concrete than ever before.
