SYDNEY, Australia — April 17, 2026

A former childcare worker in Sydney has been hit with 129 additional charges related to alleged child abuse, bringing the total number of charges to 137, Australian authorities announced.

Expanded Charges and Allegations

The new charges include producing child abuse material, filming individuals without consent, and sexual assaults on children, according to investigators. The alleged crimes span a 16-year period between 2009 and 2025, with authorities uncovering evidence during a search of the suspect’s home last year. Electronic devices seized during the operation contained a trove of material, prompting the additional charges after forensic analysis.

Detective Superintendent Luke Needham of the Australian Federal Police emphasized the scale of the investigation, noting that 2.4 million electronic files are being examined by a dedicated team of digital forensics experts. "We know this is the worst nightmare for parents, and we have investigators and digital forensics experts working around the clock to systematically check 2.4 million electronic files," Needham said. In the original German, he added: *"Wir wissen, dass so etwas der schlimmste Alptraum für Eltern ist, und wir haben Ermittler und Experten für digitale Forensik, die rund um die Uhr daran arbeiten, 2,4 Millionen elektronische Dateien systematisch zu überprüfen."*
