The Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden has released new figures showing that a growing share of retirees in Germany are engaged in paid employment, with educational level playing a central role.
In Germany, more and more older people continue to work even after reaching retirement age. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) presented new evaluations on this on Wednesday in Wiesbaden. According to these, the employment rate of older workers differs significantly depending on educational attainment.
As Destatis announced, the employment rate among older people with a high level of education stood at 18 percent. For those with a medium level of education, it was 12 percent, and for those with a low level of education, 10 percent.
