First Half: Canada pushes, Morocco lurks

The match, played as part of the co-host tournament between Canada and Morocco, began cautiously. Canada, which had advanced to the round of 16 after the group stage as one of the automatically qualified host nations, pressed from the start but initially failed to produce more than half-chances.

As early as the 5th minute, Jonathan David tried an early shot from a tight angle. In the 10th minute, Tani Oluwaseyi had Canada's biggest early chance, but Morocco's goalkeeper Bono made the save. In the 18th minute, Alistair Johnston headed a corner attempt into a Moroccan defender while unmarked – this opportunity also went unused.
