Morocco must go without Ismael Saibari in the World Cup quarterfinal against France on Thursday evening (local time) in Foxborough, as coach Mohamed Ouahbi confirmed ahead of the match.

Saibari had to be substituted early after picking up an issue during Morocco's 3-0 win over co-host Canada in the World Cup round of 16. Media had recently reported that the 25-year-old had only suffered a slight muscle strain and that there was hope for a quick return. The coaching staff has now hit the brakes and ruled him out against the French.

"Abgesehen von Saibari stehen alle zur Verfügung," said coach Mohamed Ouahbi in Foxborough ahead of the match against France on Thursday evening. With this brief but clear statement, the Moroccan coach confirmed that the absence of the attacking player is the only bad news in the squad. The remaining players are available for selection.
