Prosecutors in Zweibrücken have filed a murder charge against a 26-year-old man in connection with the fatal assault of a train conductor near Landstuhl, Rhineland-Palatinate, in February.

The accused, whose name has not been released, allegedly struck 36-year-old conductor Serkan Çalar multiple times in the head after being asked to show his ticket and identification on the evening of February 2. Çalar died in hospital two days later.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the attack occurred shortly after the regional train departed Landstuhl station around 5:40 p.m. The conductor approached the passenger for a routine ticket inspection and subsequently asked him to present identification.

When the man refused to comply, Çalar instructed him to leave the train. The suspect then delivered several forceful punches to the conductor's head, particularly targeting the temples, the indictment states.
