NASA has revealed the four astronauts who will crew the Artemis 2 mission, a critical step in the agency’s plans to return humans to the Moon and eventually reach Mars.

The crew includes U.S. astronauts Christina Koch, Victor Glover, and Reid Wiseman, alongside Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen. The mission, scheduled for launch in 2026, will mark the first crewed lunar flyby since the Apollo program.

Officials have emphasized the broader significance of Artemis 2, stating it paves the way for future deep-space exploration. A NASA representative described the mission as "the next step on the path that will bring humanity to Mars" (*"Es ist der nächste Schritt auf dem Weg, der die Menschheit zum Mars bringen wird"*).

The mission will utilize NASA’s Orion spacecraft, designed for long-duration spaceflight. Artemis 2 follows the uncrewed Artemis 1 test flight, which successfully orbited the Moon in 2022.

This mission is part of NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to establish a sustainable human presence on the Moon and prepare for eventual crewed missions to Mars.
