CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida — April 4, 2026 The Artemis 2 mission astronauts have become the first humans in over 50 years to travel to the Moon, sending back striking images of Earth during their historic journey. The four-person crew, including NASA astronauts Christina Koch, Victor Glover, and Reid Wiseman, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida. Koch is the first woman on a NASA Moon mission, Glover the first non-white person, and Hansen the first Canadian. During their 10-day mission, the crew will orbit the Moon before returning to Earth. Glover, upon seeing the images of Earth from space, remarked in German: *"Ihr seht toll aus, ihr seht wunderschön aus"* ("You look great, you look beautiful"). Artemis 2 builds on the uncrewed Artemis 1 mission in 2022, testing systems for future lunar landings. The astronauts' photos mark a milestone in NASA's efforts to return humans to deep space. The Orion capsule carrying the crew is expected to complete its lunar flyby and return to Earth later this month.
