Amsterdam, May 11, 2026 Nazi-looted Toon Kelder painting found in SS collaborator's home A portrait by Dutch artist Toon Kelder, looted by Nazis during World War II, has been found hanging for decades in the hallway of a home belonging to the granddaughter of notorious Waffen-SS collaborator Hendrik Seyffardt, art investigator Arthur Brand revealed Monday.

Discovery of a Stolen Masterpiece

The artwork, titled "Portrait of a Young Girl," was part of the famed Goudstikker collection plundered by Hermann Göring in 1940 after Jewish art dealer Jacques Goudstikker fled to Britain. Brand, known as the "Indiana Jones of the art world," told AFP the painting likely hung unnoticed for years in the family's residence.

"Das nun öffentlich gewordene Bild bezeichnet Brand als 'den bizarrsten Fall in meiner ganzen Karriere'," Brand said, calling it "the most bizarre case" of his career. He suspects Seyffardt acquired the piece at a 1940 auction following the Nazi seizure of Goudstikker's assets.
