In the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup, Norway will face Brazil on Sunday at 10 p.m. at the New Jersey final stadium, after a video from the Norwegian locker room following the victory against Ivory Coast had already made headlines ahead of the duel.
Emotional Locker Room Speech Goes Viral
Norway has reached a World Cup Round of 16 for the third time in its history following the success against Ivory Coast and is regarded as a dark horse for the title at this tournament. A video from the locker room in which Stale Solbakken addressed the team went viral even before the duel with Brazil. The emotional speech ended with the words: "And one more thing: Carlo Ancelotti, we're coming!"
The Norwegian head coach used his next public appearance to express his admiration for Italy's star coach. "We have the greatest respect for him and Brazil," Solbakken said, emphasizing that the speech had not been meant as provocation. At the same time, he pointed out that "1998 is a long time ago" – a reference to the only competitive meeting between the two nations to date.
