Olympic champion Oliver Zeidler won the men's single sculls at the 2026 European Rowing Championships on Lake Varese in northern Italy on Sunday, retaining his European title. The German crossed the line well clear of the field, with the other finalists still finishing as Zeidler celebrated on the northern Italian lake.
Silver went to Yauhen Salaty of Belarus in 6 minutes 39.94 seconds, with bronze going to Stefanos Ntouskos of Greece in 6:40.97. Zeidler's dominant margin at the finish underlined his status as the benchmark in the discipline going into the post-Olympic season.
The German Rowing Association (DRV) added further medals on the same day. Fabio Kress took silver in the non-Olympic lightweight men's single sculls, while Kathrin Marchand and Valentin Luz won gold in the PR3 mixed double sculls para-rowing event.
