Stuttgart, 14 August 2026

Sprinter Owen Ansah has won the gold medal in the 200 meters at the European Athletics Championships in Stuttgart, celebrating the biggest individual international success of his career.

Ansah, who competes for the German Athletics Association, prevailed clearly over the competition in the final and secured the title over half a stadium lap with a strong time. The 200-meter race counts, alongside the 100-meter sprint, among the most closely watched disciplines at a European Athletics Championships and is regarded as a benchmark for international sprinting class.

In the battle for the remaining medals, Italy's Fausto Desalu and defending champion Timothé Mumenthaler of Switzerland delivered a head-to-head race. Both athletes reached the finish in 20.26 seconds and shared third place. The duo finished only narrowly behind the second and third places, underscoring the high density of the field.
