Nursing home places in Germany have become significantly more expensive: In the nationwide average, residents must pay 3,431 euros themselves in the first year of stay, according to an evaluation by the Association of Substitute Health Insurance Funds (vdek) as of 1 July.

Nationwide figures

In the nationwide average, the personally payable share as of 1 July was 3,364 euros per month. This means that the burden on those affected and their relatives has risen again, as the vdek evaluation shows. Compared to the previous year's value, this represents an increase of 256 euros per month.

In their first year in the home, they had to pay 3,431 euros out of their own pocket as of 1 July, according to an evaluation by the Association of Substitute Health Insurance Funds (vdek). That was 405 euros more than on 1 July of the previous year. In July, home residents had to pay more than 3,360 euros out of pocket in the nationwide average during their first year in a home.
