Patrol officers from the Melk motorway police inspection successfully resuscitated a 57-year-old Viennese man who had suffered a cardiac arrest on the A1 West Autobahn near Hürm on Wednesday and had him flown to the St. Pölten University Hospital.

At around 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, officers of the Melk motorway police inspection discovered a stationary car on the A1 West Autobahn in the municipal area of Hürm (district of Melk, Lower Austria) in the direction of Vienna. The vehicle was positioned between the first and second lanes, „Mitten auf der Autobahn stand nämlich ein Auto, der 57-jährige Lenker aus Wien wurde am Steuer aufgefunden". A 57-year-old man from Vienna was sitting in the vehicle, who „einen Herz-Kreislauf-Stillstand erlitten hatte".
