Trier, August 22, 2026
RB Leipzig celebrated a 6:0 away victory at Eintracht Trier on Friday evening in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, securing a place in the second cup round.
The Regionalliga side Eintracht Trier offered only limited resistance to the favorites from the Bundesliga in front of their home crowd. Already at halftime, the clear distribution of roles was beginning to take shape before Leipzig significantly extended its lead in the second half. In the end, a 6:0 result sent Leipzig through to the next round in convincing fashion.
For RB Leipzig, the match was marked by special circumstances: Head coach Marco Rose celebrated the start of competitive DFB-Pokal duties while at the same time making his debut in the coaching role at the Saxony-based club. Having been signed in the summer of 2025, this was Rose's first match on the bench at RB in an official competition.
