Report: Salzburg and striker Tabakovic reportedly agree on transfer

The attacker had previously spent his Bundesliga settling-in period on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach. With 13 goals that season, he played a significant role in helping the Gladbach side stay in the league and avoid relegation.

Before his time in Germany, Tabakovic had played in the Austrian Bundesliga for Austria Wien. The Viennese had once signed him from the second division side Austria Lustenau, where he had produced an outstanding record in his final season with 27 goals in 23 games.

From Lustenau to the world stage

With 22 goals in the top Austrian division, TSG Hoffenheim subsequently signed the striker. For the club of coach Markus Ilzer, however, he fell short of expectations and did not fire on all cylinders at this stop as he had before.

In a World Cup squad, Tabakovic only made brief appearances and, due to injuries, managed just 15 minutes of playing time. Despite this limited playing time, his market value for Salzburg is apparently still high enough to justify the rumored transfer fee of around five million euros.
